Just west of Barrington Rd and South of Schaumburg Rd is the northern border of this old farming community in Cook County in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago incorporated in Feb. 1957. The residents of Streamwood know the area of one of the 3 communities that make up the Tri-Village" area: Bartlett & Hanover Park are the other 2 communities.
Retail sector was developed at Rte 59 and Irving Park Rd (route 19) called Sutton Park. Here you will find those convenience stores, shops and beverage store. These include Pier 1 Imports, Marshalls-just for girls, famous Footwear and a number of franchise chain restaurants including Panera Bread, Chili's and Wendy's, to name a few.
Streamwood Park District:
Newly renovated Park Place is a major recreation center, with an indoor water park, fitness center, day care, gymnasium, running track, spin bikes & meeting rooms as well as offers Friday Night free Movies in the Winter time. Premium baseball and softball parks, as well as hosting numerous sporting events can be found at Rahlf's Woods, Dolphin Park and Hoosier Grove. Hoosier Grove is also home to Streamwood Heritage Museum, the Barn banquet center and large playground for the kids. The newest park facility is Sunnyhill Park which is on the far western side of the Village. This park includes a skatepark, a frisbee course, numerous gazebos, tennis courts, playgrounds and an interactive water/splash pad.
The village is primarily served by a Unified School District, Elgin area School District u46, the second largest school district in Illinois. Elgin Community College District serves this area completely.
Poplar Creek Public Library serves the Streamwood Communities and offers a wonderful Adult Reading Program.

Great place for an investor or a first time buyer! Currently the population is 37,410 people with the majority of citizens between the age of 25-59 years of age. Some demographic information is interesting: There are 17,048 married residents with with the average family size of 3. 83% of all homes are occupied with 9% of all homes are rented per the village. The Village does require a license to rent a home, which runs about $100. a year. Most of the households have two cars, but generally over 50% of all homes only have a 1 car garage.
One of the more popular attractions is the School House Museum located at 700 W. Irving Park Rd, Streamwood IL. This museum used to be at Old Church and Barrington Rd, but was moved to Hoosier Grove Park. Open from March through the end of December on Friday Saturdays and Sundays from 1-4. This one roomm school house was built in 1904.
Streamwood has an abundance of activity at the Park District.
